Smile T5 Drive-E R Design Lux collected

Went for inscription electric silver the Xenium Pack, Lux winter pack, Driver support pack, sensus Nav, 18" Ixion alloys and Space saver.
The car is very different from my old 63 plate 5 cylinder T5 but the new engine and gearbox is a massive step forward. Although it is 9 BHP down on the old engine it feels more responsive and nimble due to the weight saving. Will be very interesting to see what the MPG difference is after a couple of refills if I can be sensible with it.........

Hello BigSpec,
Your T5 is almost the same spec as mine (delivery in January) but I have retained the standard wheels in the interest of a slightly better ride (I'm trading in my S80 V8, which is too big for today's crowded roads).

I would be very interested in your experiences with this car. Incidentally, what recommendations have you received about running in, or at least your driving style for the first few miles?

Hi Villarsch,

I must admit I had the 17" wheels on my 63 plate V40 T5 which do give a better ride. I always regretted not going for the slightly bigger wheels as they do look so much better so I was willing to sacrifice a bit on the ride quality this time.
The car is absolutely fabulous to drive you will not be disappointed!. I was not given any specific instructions on running in but I am taking it steady for the first few hundred miles. With the 8 speed gearbox and the engine's torque it is possible to make rapid progress without pushing the engine.
I have tried the eco plus button but the car feels like the throttle has been disconnected so I won't be using that. So far I have done just over 300 miles so I will update when I have done some more miles on the fuel consumption but my initial impression is with real world driving it will be mid to late 30's MPG. My old 5 cylinder T5 struggled to do 28 so I am very happy so far with the improvement.

Very nice! I would've got a T5 if I could've afforded it I wasn't sure about silver but it actually looks quite smart!

Very nice indeed!

That new T5 is a gem so should give you many miles of happy motoring (and smiles)

The new T5 is offered across all models in various markets. Here in Germany also the XC60 gets it with great mpg btw.
