Upper grille removal
2011 XC90 Exec D5
Hi guys I live in the country and I had the misfortune to hit a Red Kite this morning as it was rising from a bit of road kill. The kite came off second best but it has pushed the upper drivers side of the grille back "into" the bonnet Nothing broken but I can't see how to remove the grille so I can put it back in straight. Anyone got some diagrams/pictures to show me where the clips are please? Cheers Dave |

It has clips around the edges, release them all and the grill comes out of the bonnet, towards the inside

Ah Ha !!
I was trying to pull it forward, out of the bonnet, away from the car. Cheers Dave Er - this vid on You Tube seems to disagree https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WG57AwKQZtQ Last edited by Harley Dave; Sep 27th, 2018 at 20:40. Reason: You Tube Video |

All sorted - it comes out to the front, away from the car.
The three clips on the bottom edge of the grille are so hefty, and overlap the retainer by so much, that I couldn't believe they would come loose - but they did with a bit of gentle "assistance". It didn't help that I was looking first at the smaller clips - which of course hold the chrome trim in place... While the grille was off I noticed a code number for "mesh screen" or similar and wondered whether that was an option for Aus and other insect heavy places? Anyway - All OK now - It's easy when you know how... Cheers Dave |
