for some reason my nearside doorlocks aren't working. the remote wont open the doors end neither will the interior buttons.
so my doors remain locked...annoying or what.

Yes you are right it is a relatively common problem but just saying it is a common problem and nothing else is not exactly helpful to the OP at all is it??

As Si says above it is a common problem, it's a common problem with the S40/V50 door connections. This may or may not be your problem but certainly a good starting point.

Have a look at the attached PDF document of the Volvo service bulletin.

Also have a look at post #8 in this LINKY!

Do a search on this site for 'gold terminals' and you can read loads of similar storeys.

About 40% of posts on the s40/v50 are on this subject, I didn't feel the need to post what the OP probably found out after posting his post.. Anyway was he asking for help or was he just stating a fact that he's got a common problem?

Just a suggestion but try pulling and reinserting the fuse for the 2 affected doors, front door first.

I was lucky and that fixed my rear door.

I've had this problem on my 2006 v50! At first it was just electric door mirror and windows on the near side, cured by opening/shutting drivers door, but the came to unlock the car and it didn't open the near side, and like you, couldn't open manually from inside handle or unlock button either. Frustrating! Anyway car has been in at Volvo for 2days sorting all the terminals (replaced with gold as they've already tried silicon spray method before door lock problem), and replacing my a/c condenser too !
