Heater Controls
A while back I removed the heater and no I can't figure out which cable goes where and how it's connected. Would someone be able to send photos of how they are connected or which one goes where?
Also what is the wire on the heater control valve and where is it supposed to go? Thank You! Last edited by ColoradoAmazon; Mar 6th, 2023 at 17:18. |

3rd pic - your wire labelled Defrost goes to the nearest leaver near the heater pipes that defrost the Windows. Other wire goes to the back to open heat to the floor or not Hope this helps |

Wires are held on to the heater levers by Starlock washers. See eBay. Someone may know the correct size but you can measure the rod size. Fit them as the last job. If they are the correct size getting them off again means a pair of sharp snips!

CA;
In addition to the Starlock Washers Derek mentions, the sheath of control cables should also be secured to the Heater/Defrost Airbox, by Sheath-clamps with screws going into the (2) holes visible in the third pic, southeast of their respective control linkages, which you will also need. I recommend contacting Chris Horn (agent_strangelove@hotmail.com, no relation) in the Pacific NW for these, as he has a number of parts car. Sheath slipping in these clamps seems to be less an issue (than for Choke for instance) because these Bowden Cables, as they fairly straight, but while they are off, to prevent this slipping, I still recommend barbing the surface which hold the rubber covered cable-sheaths. Like so: Source: https://www.sw-em.com/checkchoke.htm ...and the copper "wire" you ask about, is not a wire, but a capillary tube (which has been cut, so its ether filling is looong gone and so is the possibility for employing it in its intended function...thermal feedback to the Heater Control Valve!)...but HCV will still work open loop just fine!
