I have decided that I dont like 15" wheels they just don't fill the wheelarches and I cannot decide if 16,17 or even 18 inch are the way to go. There is no doibt that with the current tyres 195 x 60 R15 its a smooth ride but does anyone have any thoughts and suggestions as to a nice looking alloy and tyre size to keep a good ride quality but fill those arches out. Thanks

A nice set of 17" comets fill the arches 18" may be a little hard on a v70

I agree, the 17" comets give a good ride in the C70, even with the stiffer suspension. They look about right size wise in the arches as well. I've got 15" on the V70 at the moment but if I was looking to upgrade I would go with the comets.

What tyre sizes would you advise, i do like theComets but want to keep a soft ride. I have the misfortune to also own a D5 with the sports pack and 18" wheels with low profiles and its awful - every pothole , catseye, pebble is a nightmare!

I've got 225/45/17's fitted to mine, I think that is the size they are fitted with from Volvo. I've just got cheapo budget tyres on there at the moment as well so when I get round to fitting decent tyres it will probably be smoother.

if you get 215/50/17 the ride is quite smooth and you dont get any rubbing on full lock 225 rub with full lock with a 45 profile

Comets come in two sizes: 7j x 17 inch (215 width tyres) and 7.5j x 17 inch (225 width tyres).

7j ones were original spec for S/V70R's
7.5j ones were put on C70's.

I don't get any rubbing on full lock. From the post above could it be the 225's are ok on the C70, especially considering they're standard fitment tyres, but cause rubbing on the V and S70 which is why they had thinner wheels and tyres?
