Angry Oil leak at filler cap.

I just discovered that i have an oil leak that looks as if it is coming from the filler cap, I have tried cleaning the rubber seal and the top of the engine but there still oil seeping from there. I did do a search but I might just call the Dealer and tell them to add this to the list of things to look at when the car is in, I got the car on Saturday and I already have it booked in for Saturday the 21st for other issues.

Gotta love buying second hand cars, esp when the garage only gives you a 1 month warranty . Arnold Shark (oops i mean Clark).

Still love the car though...

I had this problem with my 740.
Not sure its the same cause , but mine was a blocked crank case breather..

Sounds like a filler cap seal prob. Take your cap off and give the seal a squeeze with your finger, if its rock hard and poss slightly cracked you'll need a new one, if its still soft you'll need to look at the prob more in depth

Cheers for the replies, I am wondering if it was to do with the garage overfilling the engine with oil. I removed approx 1/2 litre or so, the level was well above the max (bunch of muppets). I am no mechanic but even I can do an oil change. I have called the garage to add this to the list of things for them to fix, the car is still within its 1 month warranty.

I did look at the seal and it still seemed quite supple, I will let the garage fix it. Although I will not take their word for it, they will get it back if it is not fixed.
