Hello,
We had a fantastic P plate 960 full spec with only 92k in the local scrapyard last year, same story, ditched.
Some argue that this situation helps keep other cars on the road.
I went back within the fortnight to get the cd changer power lead, the whole car was now moved with four others on top; it was in the pile marked 'crusher'.
After that, nothing surprises me at scrapyards anymore.
Good info re the inability to recommission a motor from the scrappies.
Cheers

I can ask when i go but think i already know the answer. When i had my 340 i asked if i could chop the front valance of off a scrapper in there, they prety much said "no, we don't allow angle grinders in the yard" and that was the end of that convo!

Well I suppose if the dismantling is well done then this does help keep other 240s on the road. I think also that these scrappings of 240s are what will lead to an increase in value of the surviving cars. And of course lead to a shortage of spares.

But in my opinion too many are being scrapped unnecessarily. And there is so very little re-use of components from the cars that are scrapped. In the dock across the road from my home, there's a huge pile of scrap metal being continually replenished and exported ...

I have seen this car today, and what a waste indeed! It is seriously solid and if anyone needs interior parts, the seats and carpets are absolutely mint. It's covered in genuine Volvo parts under the bonnet as well so obviously looked after, and signs of a recent well done respray.

The drivers door pocket is gone, all bumper trims both headlights and bits from the door cards. It has had the wheels removed and put elsewhere too, think they are the 5 spoke ones. The rear lights are still there, I was going to remove but could get the boot open. If anyone needs any engine bits, it would be well worth going across there. The exhaust also looks good from what I could see but would be a nightmare to get off because of the no wheels issue. All doors are absolutely solid likewise the bonnet and boot (I think). Even the brake disks were very much use-able if it hadn't been dumped on them!!
