LPG Possible leak
As I am new to this form of sharing info I have several questions. I have an S40 made in 2002, I recently filled up with gas and everthing seemed normal. Having driven a few, perhaps 5 KMs I noticed that the guage was registering 1/4, so thinking that I have some sort of problem I started to read the post on this site. The questions that I now have are:- is there a filter in the S40 lpg system, if so where is it located and how do I renew it? 2 How do I check for leaks in the system? Is there some sort of workshop manual available the I can buy? As you can see I am a novice in LPG so any advice will be very welcome John

You'd smell gass if it was leaking.
I used to have an S60 bi-fuel, sometimes the gauge on that would take ages (30 minutes) to register it was full after refilling - could this be the issue? |

Thanks Reggit, Yes I have had a little of the same problem but this time it's a bit different in that the tank is full and the LPG is now not working at all. There doesn't appear to be a leak as such, maybe an electrical fault, such as the connection to the sender unit is broken so I suppose that I now need a curcuit diagram to check it all through. John

One problem with LPG is that it can actually freeze the sender unit in the tank for a little while after filling. This seems to be worse at some gas stations than others. I was told my someone who installs LPG conversions that this is related to the amount of water vapour in the storage tank and pipework. Typically, after a few minutes of driving you should notice the gauge going up to full as it warms up.
If your system is not working at all now it does sound like it needs a proper service and diagnostic check. |

THanks Simon, I quite agree about having it checked through and serviced but unfortunately Volvo in ths part of the world no longer do that for LPG. It seems, after checking the tank and its installation that the solonoid seems doubbtful. I am getting no resitance across the terminals and there is what appears to be a crack in the casing. If that is the case, where can a replacement be found? John

If the solenod is split then it will likely expain your problem.
solenoids available here http://www.classicswede.co.uk/Bifuel..._10879079.aspx |
