Volume stuck low
My 2019 XC90 volume is stuck low, and cannot be adjusted up or down. I think sensus is stuck in satnav volume mode.
Tired most of the web suggestions (except factory reset or removing battery negative) so wondered is anyone can help here? Further question, I assume a full factory reset will lose all my satnav favourite locations. I am not a fussy bloke, but this Volvo seems to always have a warning flashing at some point ... I am unlikely to be keeping it. I am still running an older 2008 XC90 with 170k miles on it, and it has not given a single issue in the two years since we got the new XC90! |

A factory reset will clear your favourites, yes. It also clears the DAB station logos too -- the BBC ones come back pretty quickly but so far the only way I've found to get other ones (Classic FM et al) back is to drive to the New Forest.
I know this is always a difficult question to answer, but can you remember when it started misbehaving and whether you'd installed any updates at the time? A couple of us here had installed the voice control update, which failed but didn't say so, and that (a) killed voice control and responses and (b) killed the satnav when you tried to install a full update. I'm guessing you haven't got CarPlay / Android Auto connected? That will do the satnav volume thing too.

It cleared it self overnight!
Thanks for the reply, and I am glad I waited to the next day before hitting the factory reset button as the volume is now working.
I do have CarPlay but it wasn’t connected when the fault started, but I still tried to connect it on/off to see if it would fit it. Which it didn’t. I am sure the fault happened during the entry of a new satnav location. Just after doing that, the volume just stayed on the satnav source. I haven’t updated the software and the last service was July 2020+ the PP hose failure fix, so they might of updated the software then. I generally try not to fiddle with things like updated maps, software and even the aircon stays on the same setting for life. |

If this happens again, you simply need to mute the satnav spoken directions. It will allow you to turnup the radios volume then. I had this problem and although I thought my satnav was muted, the symbol for that was inverted so made it look like the satnav was muted when it wasn’t.
