Quarter window latch pv 544
The pop-out quarter window latch on my ‘59 pv 544 is broken. Has anyone found a suitable retrofit replacement?
Thank you! |

I think they are handed
So which side? From what I can make out as original parts they are NLA - good second hand seems to be an option for the older PVs but I'm not sure if they will fit a '59 Perhaps later PV side windows - as a whole asswembly will fit?

This is for the rear pop-out quarter ventilation windows. They have a pop-out latch that is double hinged. My passenger side latch is broken. Thank you for any thoughts you might have.

If just the pivot pin in the hinge failed, you might want to see if you can find a suitable replacement because new replacements appear unavailable. The 142 and 242 use a similar style of rear 1/4 pop out window. Have a look at that latch assembly (they are sort of common on EBay) and you might be able to utilize portions of that latch to repair your existing latch. Otherwise, start the search for a salvage 544 for parts.
The court of last resort is to use a couple of dabs urethane windshield adhesive to fix the window in a closed position. Nothing to excessive so that you can remove the glass at a future date if you ever happen upon a working latch. |

Amazon’s also had a similar arrangement, might be closer in function to a 544.
