164 advice
Hello all ,
I currently alternate use of my Amazon and a well past its sell by date renault 19 which is due for the chop .I saw a 164 local to me in Northampton and another in the owners club magazine (the white one.)and was very impressed . Im seriously thinking about replacing the renault with a 164 but apart from legendary reliability dont know much about them . What I d like to know if poss is what they are like to live with as regular drivers ie fuel consumption ,cost of servicing etc and what to look out for .How much would I pay for good solid one (not perfect )?Any advice would be much appreciated . best regards |

RE: 164 advice
The 164 is a very good daily driver and should live up to high milage very well. My brothers 162 returns good lpg milage, between £8 & £10 per 100miles. Expect to replace all the spring, shocks bushes and ball joints in your first year to make the car nice to drive. These parts will probably be original.

I'm looking to sell my 164E very cheap if you were looking for one. I'm going to be moving soon and can't take it with me. It's a '73 if you want to see more info, I posted an ad in the "sales" section-
