Call me paranoid, but with the aid of a tape measure I was able to confirm this was indeed the case. Measured from the ground to the metal body under the wheel arches revealed this surprising difference.
D5 SE Lux AWD. Front 79.5cm. Rear 82cm.
D4 SE Lux FWD. Front 78cm. Rear 81cm.

I run on 17" wheels, and the D5 had 18" wheels, but if you calculate the actual radius, there is only a fractional difference, and nothing compared to the 1.0 to 1.5 cm difference in measured body height.

I have 4C so I just wonder if the R-Design suspension (which is akin to 4C in Sport mode) has a marginally reduced body height which is also 'translated' into the SE Lux when fitted with 4C. Or is it something to do with the suspension and drive mechanicals difference between AWD and FWD ?

There is nothing published in the Volvo sales literature (in contrast to some manufacturers where 'Sport' suspension comes with a reduced ride height).
Nigel, did you measure both sides?

Mine measures Front Offside 782mm Front Nearside 786mm
Rear Offside 818mm Rear Nearside 822mm

No, only offside (mine) and nearside (D5).
I will check again when it is not raining.

My turn for to join in the OCD

My D4 AWD Standard 17inch rims

Front 78cm, Rear 81cm

Below are the curb weights for each model as published. My thought is that the heavier models have uprated springs which then lift the car slightly

D4 FWD 1854kg (Man/Aut)
D4 AWD 1873kg (Man/Aut)

D5 AWD 1880kg (Man)
D5 AWD 1906kg (Aut)

I used to suffer from OCD but I cured myself.

I put the letters in the right order, I now suffer from CDO but I find it is not as bad.

Jesus, CDO sounds a bit terminal........but a good cure though is to see the recently released film called "The Big Short". Think I would rather suffer from OCD.

What is a 'Collateralized Debt Obligation - CDO'
A structured financial product that pools together cash flow-generating assets and repackages this asset pool into discrete tranches that can be sold to investors. A collateralized debt obligation (CDO) is so-called because the pooled assets – such as mortgages, bonds and loans – are essentially debt obligations that serve as collateral for the CDO.

Personally I am hoping it is nothing worse that something like Common Disgusting Odour, everything else medical just sounds too painful, and requiring far more than common soap to treat it.

I do like the mental picture of you measuring a bunch of XC60's with a tape measure. I take it your wife wasn't with you?
Suffering a little from OCD myself, I just went out and measured the height of my D5 SE Lux, and it came in at 78.5 front and 82 rear. I have 4C and measured the height in all 3 x settings and the height doesn't change. Does the 4C actully adjust the ride height? I just assumed it altered the damping.

OMG!! I had to finally succumb to joining in as the curiosity got the better of me.

XC60 D4 2WD R-Design parked level and tyre pressures as manufacture recommendations, with no passengers and an empty boot with no spare wheel giving 81cm all round.
