Nice to see the mods taking shape too. Fulfilling those deep and meaningful desires! I like it. Love the passion.

I've always wanted to do this on a 2 series but as I'm not good with DIY, the foreseeable costs to get it done by someone else have put me off. I see you mention Swede Speed - is this a well known tuning company? What work will they be doing and is there an estimate for the full works? What gearbox and engine will they use and do they source them 2nd hand for you? will the ECU also match the new engine? Will it be a performance stock engine or tuned?

Aside from the brakes and wheels, what works do you plan to do outside of Swede Speed i.e. yourself or via personal mechanic? Now you have the wheels, interior & suspension done - maybe the exhaust and air intake?

I'm loving learning about this - you may just be tempting me to initiate a similar project. I'm so excited to continue reading about your progress. It would be ace to meet up once done. I'd be keen to see how it drives once finished. Maybe we could swap cars for a short Volvo fun drive Lets see if your exhaust turns out to be bigger than mine haha. I'm based in Solihull, near B'ham.
Hi Clark, below is a list of what I’m planning at classic swede. Classic Swede is very well known in the Volvo world in the UK. They are based in Wales. They will source and fit all the parts. Second hand engine and gearbox then tweak from there. They also do the chipped ECU’s to make it all work. Should be circa 300hp for now. I don’t particularly have the time to tinker with it myself to do so opted to pay the price of getting something to just drive and enjoy. When I bought it in December it needed nothing and was a really good base car. Estimate for the full works maybe around 8k. There’s a lot of aftermarket upgraded parts though which is driving the cost up a little more.

Volvo 940 Red block turbo conversion
New engine mounts
Check bores and rebuild head.
Manifold and exhaust
M90 manual gearbox
Possibly an uprated clutch
Ecu’s and chips
Coilovers
Poly bush kit
Upgraded intake plenum
Larger throttle body
Upgraded fuel pressure regulator
Upgraded fuel rail
Open air intake
Upgraded intercooler and hard pipe kit
Larger injectors
Upgraded aluminium radiator
Quaife diff
52mm Boost gauge under clock
New headlights. Swap the bulbs over.

What an immense list! I guess you've saved a little doing some of the suspension and seat installation work yourself. How long will it take them to do all that list for you? I guess there will always be additional stuff that is needed during the work which may take more time and cost more. Fair play for getting it all done in one lump. I wonder if someone could get it done in chunks over a few years to manage the bank balance better?

Unknown on the timeframe but circa 6 weeks maybe to get it all done comfortably. I live in Scotland so getting it done by then in stages isn’t an Option for me. There’s no reason it can’t be done in stages if it’s sorted with whoever is doing it though if you decided to go down this route.

I hope you are upgrading the brakes.
It's easy to go fast, it's harder to stop!

Already mentioned the V70R front brake upgrade in previous posts. 330mm front discs. Hence the 18 inch wheels as they don’t fit under anything less than a 17.

Fitting next week.

So once I had the brakes on the wheels I had were an et6 offset all round. The deep dish caused issues with getting them back on and needed a 20mm front spacer. Sold the Ocean DTM’s and now have 2forge wheels. Semi forged 18x9 front et10 235/40/18 18x10 rear et6 255/35/18. Just waiting on Volvo centre caps. They only came in black of anthracite so I may change the colour at some point. If anyone wants to look at more pics it’s @viktorthevolvo240 on instagram.

New retro looking stereo with a modern twist. Bluetooth and USB with hands free calls now. Put in a 10’ sub and Rockford Fosgate amp. All wired in and running good. Next is the 6x9’s in the rear doors. Boot and doors have been sound deadened with dodo Matt.
