SRS warning light on permanent display ...
960 3.0 '95 M reg. saloon 'new, softer shape'. Been looking for the diagnostic port for SRS, "were expecting an OBD port" my indie says. A general diagnostic port under the bonnet exhibits code 2 1 2. But that code does not seem to relate to SRS. We previously searched for the appropriate port around the handbrake hatch and central console area and in the vicinity of the steering column.
My high tech indie has the relevant software but - possibly because this car is a 'changeover model' (I think) - the software information is confusing both on location of the port and codes diagnosis. What should we be looking for? Our software suggests it is in the vicinity of the handbrake, but might be underbonnet. Depending on the car model. Where is the SRS diagnostic port on this model and how do we access it? What are the commonly expected faults and their associated codes? I'd very much prefer not to go to the local stealer. Many thanks in grateful anticipation. :-) |

RE: SRS warning light on permanent display ...
Further to my previous post, casting around on the internet I have found that for other makes of car, simply pulling and reinstalling the SRS/airbag fuse...or disconnecting and reconnecting the battery...can cause the SRS light to display but nevertheless requires a tool to reset. Is this one possibility for this car?
I needed a chair when I found out the cost of a replacement airbag - £467+fitting! - so I hope it's not that, or is misdiagnosed as that. Thanks for any help. GavinC |

RE: SRS warning light on permanent display ...
May I suggest that you have a look on the 700/900/90 FAQs located on this website. Look on index page and click on "700/900/90 FAQs". These are the same FAQs as appear on the American Brickboard site. You should find that whichever OBD you have there is a seperate socket for the SRS line. Most 960 owners make use of the Chilton manual (72302) in conjunction with the Haynes 940 manual. This has most details concerning OBD on these cars. If you have only an underbonnet diagnostic port then you need to look up the appropriate wiring diagram for the SRS systemon your car (OBD2 uses pin 7 on diagnostic connector; prior to that the pin used is B-5, B being the second diagnostic socket mounted next to A which contains the fuel codes etc). All the best, Peter. |

I got mine from Amazon books. Chilton manual 72303. ISBN 0-8019-9095-5. Cost back in 2003 was £16.25 including postage. Try the website at www.amazon.co.uk
