Question P2 V70R Discs & Pads - Best Deals ?

Just wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of where to get reasonably priced (genuine) front discs and pads for my 2003 V70R from ?

Its that long since I was last on these forums that my old log in account doesn't even exist anymore even though there are still pictures of my previous 850 and V70R in the gallery under my old name (Neil V70R). I Don't know if any of the guys are still on here from before there was a Performance Section (Simon Linton - Red 850R, Doormanpg - Silver V70R, Phil ? - Green T-5R, Burchi - Saffron V70R)??

I've owned Volvo's since 98, first a 850 T-5 which ended up with T-5R front and rear spoilers, strut brace, TME 302 brake up-grade, TME springs and TME re-map (when there was no UK agent and you had to send the ecu to Sweden). The 850 was replaced with a 1999 Phase 2 V70R AWD with the ME7 2.3ltr 18T blue top 250bhp engine and 4-speed adaptive auto. This stayed standard other than a strut brace and later 2.4 exhaust with the twin outlets, but after the re-mapped 850 performance was a bit of a let down as was its ability to destroy its cat.

In 2004 I was fortunate enough to buy my current P2 V70R, it had previously been on the Volvo press fleet and had spent 12 months in the care of EVO magazine (you might say that was a bad thing), but at least I knew what had happend to it during that time both good and bad as I still had the issues that it featured in.

Anyway, back to the point - where's the best place to source genuine bits from at reasonable prices ?

Thanks

Default Wither the lost souls.....

You can find many of the previous frequenters of the late lamented Performance Section in robust health at www.t5d5.org

Your very best place to buy genuine parts is at MRG in Chippenham.

Regards, Don.

PS. Simon Linton left the scene for a woman.......

Thanks for the info Don, I'll have a look on there. Am I right in thinking that MTE are what used to be TME ? I was very pleased with the remap they did on my 850 and would be my choice if I was to get the V70R remapped. Any idea what figures they quote ?

Their (TME) BHP quotes were never as high as Rica etc, but they seemed to give a better spread of torque instead of just going for "headline" BHP figures.

I spoke to Simon at FRF and I've ordered the parts from him - nice bloke and very reasonable prices . I'll definitely be using him in the future.

Hi Resin Rocket. Hope you are keeping well and you like your new R!

I'm still here albeit not so frequently these days due to work committments etc.

I sold my Saffron V70R back in 2006 and have now got a 2004 V70 R which is very nice but hasn't been without it's problems!!

Anyhow, as regards discs and pads for these cars, I would always recommend using genuine Volvo parts rather than patent aftermarket parts as you know what you are getting unless of course you wanted to go with some ultra expensive upgrade kits!

All the best

Ian

Hi Ian,

Haven't been on the forum for a while so only just seen your post. Still think the P2 V70R is great even after 4 and a half years, but then luckily I haven't suffered quite the failures that you've had with yours. Its been more problematic (rear hubs and driveshafts)than my previous Volvos but it still takes some beating for its combination of space / comfort / pace.

I did think about getting it re-mapped but thoughts of cracked blocks have so far put me off.
