Good history though!👍
I rather suspect this one will demonstrate that restoration rarely makes financial sense. The seller may well have spent £10,000 buying and doing up the motor car, but 240s top out at around £6,000 so I doubt he/she will recoup more than that.

Off topic, customised Amazons:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/394146823219
Just going to to run with the sellers own words:
" Surf style retro god this thing is hyper cool even Guy Martin has one "

Has it been lowered or has the suspension just collapsed from all the rot?

There probably isn't much steel left Luke. This one would not be for the faint-hearted; to be candid it probably isn't worth restoring (but that doesn't mean someone won't try). It will be interesting to see whether it gets any bids.

Just one quite note re: weights - I have a current-generation diesel Golf at ~1350kg (and that's for a FWD one!), which I think puts it right on a par with a 740 saloon. So much for being the 'tank' most people seem to think they are!

cheers

James

Oh lordy I don't think I can take many more overpriced 240s...
https://www.carandclassic.com/car/C1439213
If I was in the mood for dropping twelve big ones on a 240 (which I'm not), this one is a bit nicer:
https://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk...3-ce13f393afe6
I'm off to ogle some affordable Amazons...

... but I don't think these motor cars ever sell. I remember seeing second ad (the white car) months ago and commenting on the seller's poor use of English (eg. the floor mats devouring the carpets).

You may find Amazons a bit overpriced also :-).

Yes indeed James, all motor cars become more bloated over time as we demand more and more. As I replied to you above, the Golf Mk1 was just 790kg, so a 71% increase in 48 years (I know, only the name is the same).

:-)
