Going rate for an estate
I’ll be selling my D5 v70 estate at some point for a petrol version
Just had a look at some prices and am seeing £1k to £10k ! To keep the tax acceptable I think 2.4l max year 2006, facelift model so late 2004 mileage prob 140k What is a sensible price to pay? With what I’ve seen I’m wondering what my D5 with 178k is worth (timing belt, wishbones, general fettling. |

You might have tried this but if not, if you go into ebay, search on volvos and select completed, you'll see what was SUPPOSEDLY paid for various cars.
As you know, a fair few go around... and around... and around, until they're sold, so it might not be totally accurate, but at least there's some info for you. That and bookmark a few in autotrader and see how long they take to clear. Not accurate, but some further info. GLWTS

Yes I’ve been searching things front to back and back to forth. There are a few chances out there asking big money for low mileage v70’s and then something a bit more sensible for what I’ve been thinking on. The traders seem to run ads for much longer, private genuine sales don’t hang about |

I reckon you'd be looking around £2,000-£3,000 in a garage for a petrol version & the year/mileage you want. There's a bit of a gap there I know, but that's just how it is now. Then of course, they go all the way up to stupid money. I haven't researched private ones, but that'll give you an idea from a garage perspective. I don't know what reg your diesel car is, but at a quick glance, garages seem to be looking around the £1,700-£2,000 mark for something with similar miles. If you were to sell private, I reckon you'd be looking around £1,250-£1,500. Hopefully that gives you some idea.

I paid £3,395 for mine at just under 53k, 2001 non turbo, cloth seats, not SE or anything.. immaculate bodywork, with a handful of minor very easy to fix issues
sometimes I do think maybe I paid a little over the odds, but mostly I just love it. dealer would not budge at all on the price which I suppose just shows how confident he was he would sell it first it was between lockdowns and if I delayed I had no idea when I'd be able to go and get another one, my current MOT was running out at the end of that year and it wasn't worth spending the money to get it through also I'd already done a lot of shopping about online so it wasn't a total spur of the moment thing, and when I sat in it I just got that feeling that I wanted it, which is the gut reaction I always go on and has never let me down yet (probably more luck than anything else) if you mean you want a turbo petrol one though.. good luck, I think everyone's looking |

I’m actually not sure now what version to go for. I got it right with the D5 as it’s the euro 3 facelift fuel economy is great. I’m reluctantly going petrol because of London ULEZ so would want the most economical v70 petrol I can get - and still drive a Volvo not a Ford. Min petrol must be a euro 4. I think there’s a time when buying a car that you sort of give up looking and buy the next one you see. All have pluses and minus, you could factor in the cost of your time to search and the effort that goes into that as money saved. If you love the car then that’s worth a lot. Oh I should also mention road tax as petrol reg before 2006 is £340 so I’d be wanting that on the shopping list. V70 petrols then are 2.4 non turbo and 2.5 turbo? My D5 has a turbo, I like that ! |

I think there was a 2.4t as well as the t5 which was a 2.5? Or have I got that the wrong way around..
I know I've read discussions about one of them being weaker with narrower gaps between cylinder bores, or something to that effect so you might want to look into that if you really want a turbo Tbh the non turbo one is pretty punchy though, and if you do a lot of driving in London i would question is a turbo really necessary, I guess yes if you do a fair bit of fast road driving as well |

I paid £3500 for my 2006 V70 2.4S recently. Probably way too much, but it was exactly the spec I wanted: facelift 170bhp model, manual, sunroof, 7-seats, lowish mileage (100k) and a good colour (metallic grey). I hope to keep it for a while, so I reckoned it was ok to pay a little more. Good ones are becoming rarer, I think.

Honestly, you can't go wrong with that 2.4 170 n/a engine.
And the sound when you rev it out... glorious. I actually prefer it to the 2.5T I had in my previous S40 T5. |
