Vxc70 2002 2.4 turbo..... Running on 3 cylinders...
ok so we have a bit of a problem.....
Our 2002 VXC70 2.4L turbo cross country volvo... started to run roughly... cylinder #3 was not firing.... so we swopped out one of the spark plug boots from one of the other cylinders to the one that wasn't firing correctly... then that didn't work....so now we're down to 3 cyclinders....
it seems as though the car is not giving out any pulse to the #3 cylinder... as we checke it by placing a screwdriver into the boot and holding it a couple o mm's away from the body... no spark...
when we put the boot that wasn't working onto a cylinder that previously was working that clyinder is now no longer getting any spark....
i am guessing that the ecu "knows" that there was a fault on the #3 and #5 cyclinder so it's turned off the spark on those 2....
how dou you reset the ecu so it trys to use as as many cylinders as will operate....

if i'm wrong how else can we fix this.... i am aware that we probably have to purchase a new boot for the one sparkplug... but now the other ecu's stopping cylinder #5 from firing....

Assuming you don't have VIDA to look at faults and do a reset that way..

My usual reset method is unplug the battery for an hour or so then reconnect (with key in pos2 to stop airbags going off) it might make no difference but it costs nothing to try
