Default XC40 electric - scheduled charging challenges

I would like to seek some advice please. Yesterday I managed to secure a test drive of the Volvo XC 40 EV. Very impressed. Slight wind noise and seemingly no Apple Car Play but otherwise a good experience apart from charging that is.
Last night I proceeded to to connect to my Zappi V1 for an overnight charge. I connected with the setting to Eco + with boost timer set for 2330 to 0430 and the display as usual indicated waiting for surplus. Come 2330 the charge was not activated and the Zappi display showed charge delayed followed by reset.
I attempted to reconfigure the settings several times disconnecting the cable each time and then reconnecting but with no success. Eventually I opted for fast charge and after a few attempts the charge was activated with the timer disabled. I now l have a reasonably full battery this morning prior to returning the car.
Not sure what I have done incorrectly? For the last 2 years I have charged my Volvo V60PHEV using the boost timer to take advantage of the Octopus Go tariff without issues, albeit at a lower rate of charge as is the case with a PHEV. Maybe there is a compatibility issue so I have posted in the Zappi/MyEnergi forum too.
Any advice/guidance would be much appreciated.
Thank you

The XC40 EV doesn't come with Apple Car play. This is limitation of the Google OS being used.
It is supposed to be "coming soon" but I have personally heard a Google engineer say it may never arrive. I understand the same limitation exists on the Polestar 2 as well

I could live without AppleCar Play as Google maps provides the navigation system. However the inability to time charging overnight on the cheaper tariff is an obstacle.

Indeed although oddly I never actually use CarPlay for maps. It’s all the other things
