Default Has Anyone Else Had Their 2021 Volvo Order Cancelled?

Hello to all,

This is my very first post here.

I would have loved to be joining you all and sharing my new experience with my 2021 Volvo B4D Inscription but unfortunately 2 weeks prior to my delivery date I was informed that my complete order had been cancelled.

This was the first new car that I have bought since 2000 when I bought my very first car (Ford Escort Flight 1.6). I am not wealthy, so paying in effect £50,000 for any car is a very big deal for me.

Even though I have already paid for the car, I was shocked to get a call telling me that my order has vanished from the system and that I must now wait for a MY2022 model.

Has anyone else had such an experience?

Yes I had the exact same thing. Ordered in March with an estimate delivery date of late April. A week or so later was told there was a hold up and then finally told my order was moved to MY22. There are some differences in the spec so dealer is apparently trying to honour original spec but have gone quiet. No idea when I will get the car but traditionally new MY cars are built in May and delivered in June. As this was caused by ongoing component delays it could be even later.

Could be something to do with the chip supply shortage a month or two ago? All manufacturers saw reduciton in numbers being built.

Thanks for the response.

I received a call today to let me know my dealership is expecting an update from Volvo early next week.

I was told of the cancellation on two week prior to my ETD and so I wasn't happy at all. I will be without a car from Mi May as I was told early may at latest for my delivery.

I too have been told they plan to honour the price I've paid for my 2021 will be same as 2022. I ordered the following:
Volvo V90 B4D Inscription
Air Suspension
Bowers and Wilkins
Laminated Rear and side windows
Sunroof, 360 Cameras, heated rear seats, heads up display
4 zone climate

I was so excited.

I'll keep you posted on what they tell me.

Wow, that will be some car when you get it. Hopefully we hear some positive noises soon.

Only thing to watch out for is that I think I read that the laminated windows has been taken off the options list. I’d try and get something writing from the dealer.

yes , your dealer should have just told you what the problem was , a shortage of semiconductors , you should get a 2022 model instead though so worth waiting for .....

Thanks for the heads up.

I'll enquire about that as I really wanted laminated windows all round.

Another thing which is bothering me is all this talk around the new Volvo's coming in 2022 being capable of level 3 autonomous driving through the use of brand new Leminar technologies.

I would be gutted to spend £50,000 this year to see such a big change the year after, but I've already waited 5 years before I made the decision to buy this one.

I've paid for the car upfront and plan on keeping the car for at least 10 years, so such a big change would be soul destroying.

At the same time, if I wait and Volvo then announce this tech won't be implemented on the V90 until late 2022 or even 2023/4 then I've waited for nothing.

I really am excited about getting this car though. I've saved relentlessly for 5 years and am feeling like a kid in a toy shop right now lol....

I suppose the Android OS will mean get the latest Volvo and future Volvo Infotainment system. I just hope that I don't have to wait too long to take delivery of it.

You are right, it would appear that the Laminated Windows option is no longer available. That does put me off some what as I want the car to be as quiet as possible.

I'll have to wait and see what the dealer comes back to me with. Shouldn't be long now.

Would you please let me know if you hear back? I'll do the same.

Most options remain the same but Laminated Windows isn't available apparently as discussed with others.

I just hope we get some form of priority as we have already had to wait for our original order and then have it cancelled.

Fingers crossed we'll hear back soon
