An update to this.
I cleared the code and took the car out for another drive while graphing the EGR commanded position (sadly I didn't notice I had hit the max of 5 and wasn't graphing the actual position, but as seen in my previous test it seems to work correctly) boost pressure, soot mass and dpf pressure sensor. It does feel a lot more spritely with the code cleared. The DPF pressure followed the same peaks and troughs as the intake manifold absolute pressure sensor which I think is reassuring that the DPF sensor doesn't seem to be to blame. The boost pressure however remained a static line at 117.3Kpa and didn't move ever, neither did the soot, but I suppose we don't expect to see a drastic change in soot level under normal circumstances. I checked the fault logs under initial state again and looked at show graphs, I found the ECM-P023600 Supercharger boost sensor A was orange on counter 4 for a long time where as the EGR P1407 only seemed to trigger once. On the timeline the boost pressure triggers first then the EGR afterwards. Based on that and the static boost pressure line on my graph, I've ordered another TMAP sensor. I'm not sure if I'll have time to fit and get an idea of whether it's fixed before the New Year, but I'll update once I know. I might get it to trigger again before the new sensor arrives and I can check the timeline etc again.

My fault turning out to be a crack in a pipe that goes to the EGR, cost £85 to fix which - at the main agent - I considered to be an absolute bargain.
