I dont have idea what can be a problem here
Have the same problem with an SC-901 in my S70.
Do you need the Dolby amp and speaker for this setting? I have the usual speakers with amp under passenger seat, no Dolby system.

Or maybe there are two different firmwares?
My SC-901 is from a scrapped C70, so I'm thinking the SC-901's from the C70's don't have the EQ-settings? Perhaps they only have a set EQ for the C70?

Have a look at this...

Or if you can read this text on the attached picture...

Yes, to get the full effect you need the centre speaker, also many find that if the ‘3 channel or ‘Dolby’ don’t sound awesomely good , it is usually that the volume or effect is turned way down.

Problem is the described way to access the settings doesn't work, at all. Every other menu works, for antenna and you name it. But the EQ, no way.

Just tried an old broken SC-900 in my car. 3- disc CD-player and FM radio is busted, but the 6-disc changer input works, and I have a Yatour bluetooth module plugged in there. No problems accessing EQ settings there. The sound was amazing! So much warmer and crispier than the SC-901 wich sounds like it's playing through a tin can.

My conclusion is the FW on some of these SC901's are crap.

Funny that the OP said that he wasn't happy with the sound of the SC901 - I took mine out the other day and put an SC805 in instead.

The 805 sounds much richer - no matter how much I adjusted the EQ on the 901, I couldn't get it to sound as rounded as the 805. I reckon you need the posh speakers to make it sound as it should.

I think that would be the case. My C70 has the SC901 with the pro-logic surround sound and it is truly awesome. Particularly with an instrumental track it is just like sitting in a concert hall; whenever I play a Queen disc I cannot resist turning the volume up😀
