Default Best EQ settings for sc-901

Hi all,

When I was looking for the C70 I specifically wanted the sc-901 head unit with the 100w dolby pro logic set up because I had heard good things about it, but now I have been living with it a while I can't help being a little bit disappointed. On the odd song I put it onto full dolby and it's really good, but most of the time it seems better on 3 channel and it doesn't stand out as any better than the V70 set up which is just a basic unit with basic speakers. And the bass isn't anything special considering it has the extra sub behind the rear seats. I think it's probably that I just haven't got it set up correctly though, so can anyone give some good tips on what settings I should be using? I appreciate good audio but I'm not that good with the equalizer settings

Thanks

There is a secret menu where you can alter a few things , The system is pre set for the C70 but you might have a play with it .. I cant remember which two buttons you press to get the menu , but someone will be here with it soon !

Thats sounds interesting... In that case it may also be that someone has changed the settings previously so if anyone could tell me what the settngs should be from the factor for the C70 and how to check/adjust them I would appreciate it.

Hello,
Switch off. Hold number 2 and press the on knob, up comes 'Custom EQ', now press the tune knob and it displays 'Custom EQ Settings' and the 1 to 6 buttons change the frequency of the channels, No.6 switches front/rear as will be displayed on the right hand side of the LCD.
Give this a try and let me know how you get on.
I only have a 900 currently.
Cheers

I tend to put the lowest freq on max and then step down to the middle 1hz before stepping up to the last treble which I have one below max.

I was not impressed with the 901 till I switched on the custom eq either.

Had a quick play around with this, I'm not sure what it was on before as I didn't pay attention before I started pushing buttons, lol, but I have two options; conv up and custom eq. I'm assuming conv up is referring to the convertible roof being up, I did wonder if it would change to conv down with the roof down but I'm not sure. Anyway, I made sure it was on conv up and what I've been doing is leaving it on 3 channel most of the time as I find that gives the best lower volume sound but when a good song comes on switch it to dolby mode and turn the volume up (with a tweak of the center speaker volume which is independent) and it sounds really good. I have the bass turned right up and it's not quite what I was hoping for (I don't like a hugh amount of bass, just enough to feel it) but it's good enough. I'd probably look at changing the sub if funds allowed as it's pretty old now and probably not in the best condition but that's not an option.

Anyway, thanks for the advice, I'm happier with it and I will still have a play around with the custom settings as well.

I ve always assumed you could only change the settings in Custom and conv up was a preset only?

I boosted mine in custom with the eq.

You can't change the settings in conv up, they are preset as you say. I'm not sure if it was on conv up or custom before though so it may have been on custom with the wrong settings. I will still have a play with the custom settings, probably over the weekend if I get 5 minutes to spare, but for now it's on conv up and I'm happier than I was
