Removing door and sill trims
Hi all
It's been a long time since I was last on here! Can anyone recommend the best way to remove door rubbing strips, lower door trims and sill covers, please? Looking to get them painted black, as they are starting to fade a bit, as its 19 years old. Thanks in advance Gary

My Haynes manual (#4263-dated 2006) depicted every sill/trim fastener/clip as a straight, shove in style of diamond shaped white plastic (nylon?).
I saw no "Christmas trees". Get a can of plain silicone lube (real thin bodied) with a straw. The smallest of shots can ease removal. Ask at a body shop where they source their replacement body hardware and go there for any 19 year old clips which may break. A Volvo dealership WITH A BODY SHOP would be another source. |

Personally I was just planning on masking up the car and spray them in-situ - take away the risk of snapping
Front bumper bits come off easily thankfully |

I have lubricant spray and various trim prying or lifting tools. Fingers crossed, but I'll be replacing all of the clips anyway. Cheers Gary

Is it the same got the rear bumper trims, or are they a PITA?
Gary

That's a good question and I'd be interested to know as well
I have a big bit of black plastic across the top right by the boot opening and there's a kind of rubber weather strip across the gap that was coming loose so I glued it back on Tbh that's the main reason for putting it off so far.. other than that just need to order up more of the spray paint I used on the wheels and grill (dark anthracite) for uniformity Last edited by stuart bowes; Jul 22nd, 2021 at 20:06. |

It's unbelievably easy to remove. Trim tool under the leading edge, similar to the fronts and prise away from bumper, round the corner and it just lifts off. The centre section is just as straight forward. Unclip the lower edge first, all the way across, lift the trim up toward the boot space and it unclip from the bumper, just before the flexible rubber trim. I also managed to get the lower door trim off, just two screws and two clips. 20 clips ordered from eBay for less than £6! The rubbing strip seems to be glued on, so they'll be staying where they are. Photos of the parts attached. Gary

On my 2006 V70, recently purchased, it looks like the right hand sill cover has been rubbing on the paintwork inside the rear door, leading to the start of corrosion.
Not sure why, as it all looks 100% original & I've never had this on previous P2s. Anyone here had similar ? I know I've got to remove the sill cover to deal with it. TIA

My 2007 is looking like that too.
Haven't got round to taking it off to have a proper look. I hope it's not a can of (tin) worms! |
