I would question that with your dealer….

When you book the upgrade it has to be ordered from Volvo and they basically get a box with the badge and stuff in it.

Reason I know it that I used to work for a Volvo garage, actually the one I got mine done in!

A: The optimisation upgrade has been designed to provide those Volvo owners
who wish to enjoy a sportier drive to upgrade if they so desire. The standard Volvo products remain true to their relevant dynamics and comfort levels which are developed to appeal to a broad audience, not all of whom will enjoy the heightened performance and dynamic abilities
I understand the power increase and don’t mind paying for that, but it the smoother gear changes that I question why I should have to pay for that when I feel that should be standard.

I know the D5 can be a bit more clunky in gear changes than the D4, but still…

I guess my dealer doesn't have any badges in stock.......
Had mine done about 18 months ago. As Joker mentioned the dealer should get the box with the badge and other bits and pieces. Takes about 30 minutes then you can live the dream

Thats the proof you have been Optimised, so it says on the back of the plaque, don't get too many coffee rings on it.

Ok, so had my Polestar optimisation done this afternoon.

Badge fitted on back by dealer and got the A5 sized plaque as my certificate.

Price £595, no discounts

S90 D4 R-Design (MY17).

On the drive back, in Comfort mode, the car did feel sportier

There was a difference but in my subjective opinion it wasn't a huge difference. For me it felt like a slight difference.

The gearing did feel better.

As someone in another thread said, it was a better drive, but you'll soon 'forget ' the difference and it will all seem normal.

I think that will definitely be the case with me.

All the above was as expected.

I didnt get a chance to try out Polestar mode.

So, given the 'slightly' sportier drive in comfort mode, do i regret it?

No. Not at all.

It just 'feels' better through the gears and as I intend to keep the car long term I'm happy and it drives that bit better.

Hope that helps.

Thanks @Kenp8257

We have the same year/model and get mines done at the end of the month. That was useful info for me.

Upgraded my MY2018 S90 T5 today— paid £838. It should be factory-fitted. I urge every owner to upgrade.

Why was yours £838?

Also, I think, as you go up in engine power (D/T5, 6, 8) you see greater improvement....

Just recently had the Polestar software upgrade done on my D5 S90.

Did a lot of searching but couldn’t find much said about it so thought I would make a post to give my views and if anyone had any questions.

First impressions was why wasn’t this on the car as standard…. It’s makes the car feel so much more enjoyable, gear changes in all driving modes are noticeably smoother.

I had setup my own driving mode originally to get what I felt was the best balance of what I wanted out of the car, but since the software upgrade comfort driving mode is perfect!

When you put the driving mode to Polestar (which replaces dynamic) it becomes alive, but not in the same way dynamic did, it doesn’t keep the revs high so you are in the “sweet spot” for power and the pick up when you bury your foot does put a smile on your face. I always like cars that are what I call “sleepers” and this is definitely that!

I would say, if you are thinking about it, go for it! Just a shame it didn’t come out of the factory like this…

If anyone has any questions, just let me know and I will try and answer them.

Cheers,

Stuart
I had my V90 CC Polestar'ed too You've said exactly what I said, Why was this standard? It's the car it should have been, the delivery is so much smoother, even in the comfort, and gear changing is better.
