I've been contemplating getting one of these for a while. No problem connecting to my C Class and wife's SLK as they have dedicated charge / jump points and earth in close proximity.
When charging the XC60 with the CTEK I use an adaptor connected to my 13 pin trailer socket however jump starting looks a nightmare with these packs as they have very short leads and Volvo recommend connecting to positive on battery and then engine mount bolt on other side of engine bay. Not a problem with conventional jump leads of course. Any thoughts? |

Connect positive to battery and just find any bare chunky but if metal for the negative and it should still work.

That's the problem. There is no 'bare chunky' hence previous posts from other members on finding a suitable negative point for the charger.
Short of using one of the jump leads connected to the croc connector on the the jump pack. Probably not a good idea and there will be PD drop as a result. |

For jump starting with a jump pack in an emergency, as opposed to jump starting from another vehicle, just use the battery negative terminal. It may confuse the battery sensor and cause stop/start to stop working for a while until the BMS has recalibrated itself, but if the choice is between not being able to start the car or having to put up with start/stop not working for a few hours...

Or take the booster to an auto electrician and get him to extend the negative cable professionally.

For the amount of times you'll hopefully have to use it I'd connect it straight onto the battery
