Default Running S60 after long time off road.

Hello. I have an 05 S60 D5 which due to health problems, has been off the road for a few months. I have run it occasionally but now I am able to drive again, I am unsure if I am doing the right thing, by putting it back on the road. I say this because even though I have, as I say, run it occasionally, there is quite a bit of smoke coming from the exhaust Would a good run down the motorway help?? Your input would be most welcome.
Edit.. Sorry, forgot to say, I didn't have excessive smoke problems prior to the car being 'laid up'

Thank you Simmy. I can't try it out yet because 23rd of this month is the date I have chosen for my insurance to begin. I will let you know how your recommendation turned out after that date.
Sincere regards.

Did as you suggested Simmy and you are absolutely correct, it was condensation. Engine running like a dream as it always was.

Thank you very much

A few months is of no consequence, honestly. It is when a car sits for months and months you begin to need to think about fuel condition and oil and filters etc.

Wash the car as soon as possible, properly.
