Default Engine running on sometimes

Hi all

A handful of times now the engine in my 145 has run on a little after turning it off. This does not happen every time and has only happened a few times but I thought it would be worth a post to see the most likely causes.

Thanks

Tony

Hi Tony

Mine got particularly bad after we had modded the engine. Get the timing right to stop immediately but a bit down on power, timing optimised for the engine, then runs on!

Ended up fitting one of these which does the job. Moss sell them as often a problem with MG's.

Sorry John, was in a hurry! It's an anti run-on valve.

To quote the user guide,

"When the engine is switched off, the anti run on valve is opened thus allowing an extra volume of air to be drawn directly into the
inlet manifold. This extra volume of air dilutes the normal fuel/air mixture in the manifold which should prevent the engine running on"

It is of course, just another toy.....but I like toys! Connected to the servo vacuum pipe by a T and one simple electrical connection.

They are also known as an anti dieseling valve.

Thanks guys I am going to look into one of those to check out how much they are. I have also read somewhere else then the mixture could be too lean so also going to get it to the tuners and I not experienced enough to tune it myself really.

Thanks again

Tony
