Default How many gears?

The other day I test drove an 2006 S60 D5 2.4 diesel auto, when trying out the manual part of the tramission I noted it all had three gears, is this all there is on this car?
I didn't by it in the end dure to other issues.

Try this. In auto, drive at dual carriageway/motorway speeds, then flick to manual and see what gear shows on the dash. Should be at least six I think......

On my 11reg the manual side was reluctant to do anything once the limiter was reached. In manual at 70 when you slow down you should see the gear numbers roll down without touching the gear selector.

It was lovely nudging the 2015's selector into M and seeing the '8' appear.

My XC40 (polestar) gets to around 70 and only shows 6 or 7 . 8th only shows up around 80ish (With polestar selected) I'm not sure if the system is corrupted or I should drive faster!
