Default Volvoguard II diagnostics

Volvoguard II has stopped responding to key fob.

Was ticking 3 times, changed both batteries now ticking once. However the car is just ignoring it now.

Is there a diagnostic procedure I can follow to pin point the issue?

Much of the diagnostics on Volvoguard II requires a programming box rare outside dealers. There is a way to reprogram key fobs to the car if there are spare memory slots available. It might be worth trying it near the dash first. It is quite common for the fobs to still work but the receiver lose the ability to pick them up from a distance. Several people, myself included, have DIY fixed this on the older Guard I alarm but I have not seen a reliable solution for the later units.

Thanks. I'll keep my eyes peeled for a diagnostics tool if they ever pop up!

Kind of a pointless thread in the end. It started working after the next time I drove it. Really quick and responsive with new batteries.

The attached pdf may be of interest as it describes the Volvoguard II system and fob programming proceedure.

my keyfob gave up after 2 months of ownership....i will shortly be getting a modern alarm system fitted....not worth the aggro trying to sort the standard system imo...
