B21 pistons in a B20
Has anybody had experiance of fitting B21 pistons into a late 8 bolt B20?
I was wondering about where to get a head gasket to suit the increase in bore diameter. Also where to buy a set of original quality Mahle pistons. Last edited by Oilline; Feb 25th, 2009 at 23:11. |

There are issues with the piston pins unless you're using the very late, rare in the UK, B20 rods/crank. Explanation here in the comments towards the bottom of the article. http://www.vclassics.com/archive/qbigbore.htm
Are you trying for turbo pistons? Not sure if they did them for 2.1l. |

My B20 is the later 8 bolt flywheel type so should have the 24mm little ends.
Was the 240GLT n0ot a turbo'd B21? |

I'm not a 240 man but I think the UK GLT has the T standing for "Touring". Engine is B23E and the suspension wheels were upgraded in sporty fashion. A bit of Googling indicates that the 240 Turbo was a 2.1 so there should be some strong pistons around.
Did we get 240 Turbos in the UK? LHD only? Turbos and steering gear might get in each others way. |

All UK market 240s were non-turbo. (Although there was dealer-fit carb+turbo kit available in the early days).
You might get OE 2.1 turbo pistons from overseas. Try turbobricks? John |

Mark and Russ, I got my head gasket for B21 pistons for my B20 head from KG Trimning in Sweden. I also got my pistons from them. Due to buying quite a bit postage was free. Worth giving KG a call as very helpful people. I also think you are correct that the 8 bolt has the 24mm little ends but KG will know for sure.
