Post Aftermarket stereo connection issues

Hi all,

I recently purchased a new aftermarket stereo (double din CarPlay etc) and an installation kit (fascia, canbus adapter, wiring loom etc) but I’ve run into the following problem:

The DIN connector on the back of the new head unit is a 6-pin DIN, whereas the connector from the car is an 8-pin DIN connector, so it won’t connect up.

I know the original stereo (an HU-650) has both 6-pin and 8-pin DIN connectors, but the lead coming out of the car is 8-pin only, with no 6-pin available.

Has anybody else run into this? And if so, what did you do to connect from the 8-din in the car to the 6-din in the aftermarket radio?

I’ve also emailed the provider of the kit to see if they can provide a solution, as it was meant to support all 05-07 P2 V70s.

TIA

Default Din Connector

My guess is that your existing head unit doesn’t have the the external amplifier which the 6 pin din connector is for. I think the other one (9 pin) is Melbus for accessories such as CD changer, RTI, TV tuner etc.
