yet another (Oil) question
First let me apologize for my computer taking 10 or more min on the search function as im sure this has been discussed many times prior. anyway im a new owner of a 01 s60 T5 in the states. My plans were to run 0 w 40 full synthetic oil. castrol or royal purple. Well due to my current field of employment i was recently relocated to a very small town. As i browsed the local auto part stores today i could not locate this oil weight , so my question is what is my other choice in weight? or should i order the 0-40? I have always wanted a T5 so i have plans on treating it like a baby. when the 15 year old lads had posters of lamborghini's hanging on their bedroom walls , i had a poster of a T5 hanging on my wall.

10 W40 of the correct API rating will do fine.

An 0W oil will make the engine easier to start in the winter, but regardless of what the advertising says there is no difference in start up wear unless you use an oil that has a pour point less than 10c from the lowest temperature. That's roughly minus 15C for a 10W and minus 25C for a 5W. So the folks in Northern Canada that do not have a heated garage or pre heater nearly all use 0/30 or 40 grades.
