Subframe Insert Bushes...Stop the Squeaking...
Evening all.
Has anyone put the Blue Subframe Insert Bushes in lately...? Im going to get some to try and stop the Squeaking when braking. Any tips, easy to do ? I know you need to get new Subframe Bolts and Hope the old ones come out with plenty of pre soaking (Plus Gas, WD40). They need doing, its driving me up the wall....lol tia, DB.

I did them on my previous 2003 XC90 and I will be doing them on my 2011 in the next few weeks.
My only tip is do one at a time and use a small amount of red rubber grease on them (or washing up liquid) to ease insertion as they will be tight.... oooo matron etc.

I too did them on my 06 Xc90 and the difference is night and day. Unfortunately I snapped one of the bolts on removal (NSF, most common one to snap) and it turned in to a 3 day ordeal of swearing, drilling and re-tapping the thread so definitely do take your time and pre soak them for a good few days to a week before.
If for some reason the bolt suddenly goes suspiciously tight on removal, stop and re-evaluate your life choices. Insertion was pretty straight forward though. A bit of lube and a deadblow hammer and they went it snugly. It's a job worth doing. I was surprised at the difference it made as my subframe bushes looked in great condition when I got to them. |
