non-tinted windows
Hello all, new here. Writing from the US as I can't find answers here. I've had Volvo wagons for decades and now am compelled to shop for an SUV. Never owned one before as it's a form of vehicle that I don't care for. I'll be looking at first gen xc90's but of course, they come with 'security tinting' here in the US. I imagine in other markets around the world during it's production, maybe tinting wasn't allowed so there exists clear rear and side windows. I've seen pictures of xc90's with clear glass all around. Maybe I could find parts in Europe. I thought I'd ask here for any advice or solutions. Thank you!

Typically the tint is just a film (I know mine is) - you could potentially just peel the film off if you wanted to remove the tint.

A lot of XC90's in the UK were also sold with "privacy glass". It makes the car very difficult to reverse in the dark.....
But yes you will be able to find non-privacy glass. It might be as cheap to buy new from a dealer given the shipping costs from Europe for large, heavy fragile parcels.

My 2006 has clear glass all the way around (which I like), but it's the ONLY XC90 I've seen in person that has this. Every one I see around the UK all have tinted rear windows.
