Default MAP sensor replacement 06 v70 d5 185bhp

Good day to all.

I'm troubleshooting a "engine system service required" demon which won't go away. Have come across a few threads that mention swapping out the MAP sensor. Fortunately I have an xc70 in the barn that I can take parts from.

My question. The MAP sensor is on the intercooler, in a very awkward place. There is a torx screw on it, but it's obstructed by the headlight housing. Has anyone replaced the MAP without removing the intercooler? Is it possible to move in intercooler without total disassembly/removal?

Any and all help much appreciated.

with thanks

you need a long 1/4" drive socket set bar with the torx tool on the end .

Is it faulty though? you have 3 atmospheric pressure sensors on the car you need to read all 3 and compare values , they should all be VERY close.
If you are guessing then change the sensor they were about £80 last time I changed one. That intercooler one is always the faulty one.

Thanks Clan, appreciate your help.

I'm getting ECM-135F Mass Air flow sensor - signal too high
and ECM - 1600 Boost pressure sensor - Signal too high.

Assuming those are the other two sensors you're talking about, would you agree that the MAP could be the issue?

It looks klike what may be happening is that the boost sensor in the intercooler is indicating a different air flow for rpm/throttle position/tempeature to what the air mass meter is expecting I would change the boost sensor first if you cannot compare the three Atmospheric pressure sensor readings from the ECU.

Many thanks. I have VIDA, which I assume I can compare them with. Will try to get it hooked up later today.
