I would be fussy with regard to where your recording your EGT's from Russ, check out thermal dynamics, computer generated images as it might give you a clue if your having problems.
You could also post your readings be they post or pre turbine mate as regardless of BHP/Torque figures the max temps will be the same if your using known metallurgy tech 1000 deg C is not out of the question............
