Default XC90 Internet Connectivity

Just bought a 2016 XC90 from a local small dealer and have been attempting to access the in-car apps. Both bluetooth and wifi hotspots appear to connect in the car to my android phone with the globe icon highlighted suggesting the connection is there.

The problem is nothing then happens despite the apparent connection - any apps requiring an internet connection will not open or run and the downloads section just seems stuck on attempting to download updates and not getting any further.

Can anyone suggest anything I can try here? I would rather not visit the main dealer so quickly if I can help it!

You need to create WiFi tethering hotspot in your phone, and let volvo connect to it, by entering WiFi password to hotspot on Volvo screen. Then your car will have internet from your phone. That's how I did it on mine before I installed SIM card in the car.

Three ways to connect to internet

The modem on XC90 is in the boot under the floor cover on off side not in foot well as shown in video.
