Default Volvo V70 central lock issue

Hi All and thank you for helping maintaining this incredible forum.

I am a proud owner of a Volvo V70 2008. Since I’ve bought the car couple months ago, I noticed an intermittent issue with the central locking using the key fob. It doesn’t always happen and thus it’s baffling as to what it could be.

An example:
I unlock the car using the fob, all doors unlock. I drive to work and when I try to lock/unlock the car using the fob, it wouldn’t have it. I use the central lock bottom at the door and that works fine but the fob stops working. I come back to the car after half an hour and the fob starts working again normal. It keeps having this issue randomly.

Anyone had a similar issue to this before? I search as much as I can to see if anyone had a similar issue but all central lock threads seem to be different.

Thanks in advance

New Duracell battery. However, the fob looks aftermarket and the car only came with one key. Do you think the key is the issue?

Hard to tell as you do not have an original key against which to test it. I'd suggest using VIDA to test the error logs in the ECU. Owning an ageing electronically controlled car like yours really demands that you have the ability to test the electronics which will often give you an indication of what the fault may be. Clone VIDS/DiCE sets are available in the internet and for about £100 you can buy one and an old second hand Windows 7 computer upon which to run it. Will save you from having to ask questions on this forum and might even enable you to answer a few.
