It IS possible - Here's a post with some pictures. His is a newer model but same thing applies to older P3 models. As you point out this is easier with Sensus as it's an option within the GUI and not a physical button. I think there is xenon and xenon with ABL (and his post suggests that too) - but I'm not 100% on that.

On an older model I would imagine that with no button fitted you can't turn ABL off - but then I can't imagine why you'd want to?

I think 31214349 is the part number for xenon without ABL.

Another one listed here too - again without ABL

Yes, there were Xenon with and without ABL. I temporarily had Xenon without ABL when my headlight got smashed.

Thanks for confirming this apersson850.

So, worth looking for the non-ABL versions of xenon then @uknowiama, fitting the sensors/wiring and then using VDASH to enable it all?

Why bother? They are much better with ABL anyway.

They definitely did them on S60s and V70s - just only on the very late cars. Pretty rare on V70s, as they ended production earlier, but not *that* uncommon on late P2 S60s. It's the same basic module as in the P1s and P3s, but in a P2 housing.

Here's an example:

EDIT - And a V70:

...had a panic I was making the latter up, for a minute!

Also worth mentioning (at the risk of sounding like a pedant!) that P2 S60s continued pretty much until the P3 version was launched...2009 being the last model year, I think. V70s obviously ended earlier (and S80s earlier still). The later S60s often seem to be pretty well specified - lots with the Premium stereos, and ABLs seem more common than the plain Xenons ever were. I rather suspect they were using up goodies...!

cheers

James

Interesting. I have a hunch that all UK market cars with Xenons had ABL, though, even if it was theoretically an option / an option in other markets.

cheers

Exactly right.

What I didn't realise pre-facelift non-sensus cars have a button on the dash for the ABL?

Not sure about that. My Dad has a V70 P3 SE Lux (57 plate)… his has xenons, but no ABL. There’s no button on the dash either.

Same company also produce an anti fogging product for internal glass surfaces. I used to apply it to insides of motorcycle helmet visor.

You could also throw one of those fabric dehumidifier packs on the parcel shelf.

Have you cleaned the rear demister terminals to ensure good voltage?
I don’t know how to do that. Could you explain?

Thanks for your other suggestions. I have some RainX, so I’ll try that. I’ll get one of those dehumidifier packs you’re referring to & give that a go also.
