My wife has a relatively new Golf with LED headlights that were an option costing over £1,000 and they Volvo ABL's on my 2015 XC60 are significantly better - both on dipped and main beam.

I notice no difference in the Xenon ABL headlights between our two XC70's. One is a 2012, the other a 2016 model. The specification for the lights is the same. Bi-Xenon, supported by halogen (H7) high beam and ABL.
I had my ABL stop working once, due to a software update at regular service. First time I drove in the dark after that I was worried for a while why the light seemed so bad. I wondered if it was my eyes, until I realized that ABL didn't work. Volvo had changed how you needed to set some switch for it to work. Nobody liked the change, it seems, because it went back to the original function again later. |

This is listed as a VDASH supported application - fitting ABL xenon to a halogen car and also the reverse (fitting halogens into a ABL xenon).
It's not straight forward as it does require extra wiring/sensors and ideally I would say you'd need to change over the headlamp control fascia next to your knee to remove the manual headlight adjustment wheel. Some smart MOT person might recognise that a "genuine" ABL xenon car would not have this as they're automatically adjusting. https://d5t5.com/article/volvo-change-configuration I'd love to do this conversion to be honest. I love my V70 and I've loads of extra kit I love...but sadly not the xenons - The one bit of "luxury" that I consider a fundamental safety feature!

Thanks to Percy Shaw and his cats eyes I was able to place the wheels on them as a physical/audible means of continuing.... ....but other than that, I agree that they are mighty fine. If I ever need to remind myself how good they are I get in Mrs Ruby's Mini Paceman and switch on the headcandles |

I’d love to have xenons on mine too. I should have bought an SE Lux. Halogen lights, even with brighter bulbs are useless.
I also miss having a rear wiper. I know its a saloon, so it doesn’t have one. However, every bit of dirt/grime sticks to the window. When its raining heavy, the rear de-mist doesn’t clear the window quickly either, so visibility isn’t the greatest in those circumstances.
