Fuel Rail Pressure Parameters
I have a very annoying starting issue, so I'm going to hook up my Autel tomorrow to measure the different fuel rail pressures before starting, through start up and running.
Does anyone know the parameters the readings need to be around please? I only have a choice of PSI or kPa for my results but have a converter if your figures are in bar... It's a 2002 S60 D5 with 170000 on the clock. Thanks in advance. |

at idle should be around 350,000 hpa . Fuel pressure is variable when running due to Load .

Thanks for the quick response Clan!
Just checked my pressure categories on the conversion app on my phone and can't find hpa. What is that please? |

Is it something to do with Pascal?

Think I've got it......
1 hPa = 100 Pa I have Pa on my app so I'll just convert PSI from the Autel to Pa using my phone app....... then move the decimal 2 places left to get hPa. I think. Haha. |

What with Pa hpa kpa Bar ..... i'll stick with psi ! all the above are a decimal multiple of a bar though so should be easier . 200000 hpa = 200 bar 350000hpa = 350 bar

Ok. Done my calculations and I make it:
Crank: 2900 psi or 200 bar Idle: 5000 psi or 350 bar Jeez. They are big figures! I had no idea. |

That was over 10 years ago , todays pressures are Much higher . That is the reason you MUST use new high pressure metal pipes if you disconnect them , if you get a tiny almost invisible leak the jet of fuel will pierce your skin , nasty .. You know they cut very thick steel with high pressure water jets ? I guess the diesel jet could cut a finger off ...

Point taken gents, thank you
The battery's on the Optimate now following another failed starting attempt, so I'll post my test results tomorrow. I have a sinking feeling they'll be woefully low |
