Default side mouldings

hi
can anybody tell me how to remove the little black side mouldings from the outerbodywork, the ones that run full length near the top of the doors and wings? i think they are there to stop dents etc, the ones on my mates 240 are all flaked and the silver is missing from two so we plan on removing them and painting them black!! i would go out and have a look but its pouring down at the moment.

many thanks

They are held on by lot of clips so you need to lever off gently with something flat and make sure you protect the paint as well. 50% of the clips usually break or are already broken so you will need some more. Think they are available from Volvo or failing that specialist like IPD in the US.

Mine popped off no problems.
I took them off Tor1 just before it went to the scrapper...
Helpful as always, I think I broke 2 at the most. I wasn't at all careful. although I'd guess, because I didn't really care about the paint work, they 'popped' out easier keeping the poppers intact.

They are platic on thin metal, and you can distort the shape of the whole piece if you bend the metal that runs along inside, so take care with that.

Do you still have the black mouldings off your old torslanda? I'm blacking out my new one and I need the side strips, if you want to sell them I'm love to buy them.

I find the easiest way is to pop off one of the end caps and slide the mouldings off down the side of the car...

Or accidentally-on-purpose, use the door as a means to showing a BMW driver that their very inconsiderate parking offends you.
