Default Towing electrics

Hi all,

Has anyone fitted a towbar to an executive (2009) with the massaging seats?

The westfalia towing electrics module I’ve bought plugs into the top right socket in the rear fuse box BUT this already has a plug connected which goes to the massaging seat relays and aux fuse box. Can’t find a tail wire for the towing electrics from this either. Where on earth do I connect the towing electrics to? I’ve search Google and can’t find any mention of this being a problem. I believe the genuine Volvo kit plugs in here also.

Any ideas?

Thanks
James

My 2011 Exec (with massage seats etc) had an extension cable already in place (from the rear fuse panel) for the genuine Volvo Trailer module and tow bar wiring to connect to.

This is from page 25 of the relevant install instructions.

Note!
On the XC90 Executive, T-wiring is already installed in the fuse
holder. A cable with a black connector is taped to this. The tow
bar wiring's black connector is then connected to this cable.

The install instructions .pdf file is too big to attach, but I can send it by email if you like - will need your email address.

The OEM Volvo electrics kit isn't so expensive and is genuinely plug and play, can you send your Westfalia gear back?

Cheers

Dave

EDIT - found a compressed version of the attachment

That’s great thank you. So the instructions state the executive has a t-connector taped to the loom. Will have another look tomorrow, trying to avoid removing the full side panel in the boot. Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Also - I bought the towbar and electrics used, so no refunds - trying to make it work - which I think it will once I locate the t-connector. If necessary I’ll get the Volvo kit. Thanks again.

Hi James,
Did you solve this?

I had a removable towbar with electrics installed last year (not OEM kit) on my 2013 Exec and suspect that the installer might have disconnected my rear heated seats and massaging front seats, which are powered from the rear connector. I don't use those very often so not sure how long they have been non-functional.

I had a quick look and the fuses in the rear cargo area look fine. I haven't removed all the surrounding panels to check all the wiring, but might need to.

I've messaged the installer but it's been 9 months, so not sure he's going to be keen to help.

Just wondering what the wiring should look like.

Thanks.
