Selling for repair,,2000(W),V40,Auto,1.8
Hi guys n gals,,,
I'm selling V40 auto,,prob on 'Trader' by next weekend but thought I'd mention here first, partly,in case there's any interest,,but also that I'm open to any constructive observations etc regarding a) how I'm describing,ie 'for repair'..b)the car..c)the asking price...I did get a few online scrap quotes as thats by far the easiest/quickest way to move it but I was totally unimpressed with them..one said £13 !!..for that money I'd rather invite all my grandkids round on 5th november and put a match to it..It's much better than scrap anyway IMO... Anyway....V40 XS Auto,'W' 2000,1.8 1783cc, B4184S2 engine ...121k,,starts/runs/drives..pretty good history...was in daily use until Mot ran out 22nd Aug..(I'd already decided to replace it by then)..It now lives in West Drayton,Middlesex,,less than 1 mile from M4...It's SORN,,with no tax/mot/ins,so I won't be able to offer any test drives etc...It can be shunted round the garden as long as I don't chew up my brother's lawn!........It needs:- 1)n/s cv joint or something(repetitive knock/clonk on right-handers.... 2)prob rear discs(advise corrosion last year),rear pads(I have those).... 3)refit o/s/r wheelarch liner(I have that).... 4)Service.... 5)bit of a valet inside and out,,but no horror stories anywhere.... 6) There are 3 very occasional/sporadic electrical things which are easily overcome and they reset themselves straightaway,,I've just put up with them for quite a while,,,,non start on key(thinks it's in gear)..limp mode usually when shunting/parking/3 point turn etc,,resets on switchoff and restart....lumpy/rough tickover, usually at lights etc...all occasional and easily dealt with at the time....It's had:- Cambelt/auxiliary belt at 85k,just before I bought it.. Front springs/track rod end joint/cv boot clips/front brake hoses july '11 Front anti roll bar links/front pads/4 tyres may '15 Battery oct '15 New set locking wheel nuts may '15 Free with car,,,volvo roof bars,,new rear pads....... That's about it really,,the good/bad/ugly....Sorry it's long reading but I've nothing to hide about the car,and I'm in unfamiliar territory a little bit... So,,will I sell it like that,or shall I join my local banger-racing club??... I'm thinking £195 ono,as seen in garden,,see what happens, but I'm open to thoughts and opinions on any of it if anyone feels inclined.... Many Thanks if you've read this far Last edited by tt82; Oct 7th, 2016 at 09:33. |

Hi all,,,,,
Short update,,I haven't yet had time to be dealing with any advertising,('Trader or whatever)........If anyone here has any interest in the car, either,as a fairly quick/easy repair concept,or to break for spares,I'd be happy to shake hands at £135,this weekend... Thanks for reading,,if interested please feel free to contact me |

Thankyou,,my thought to..Far too good to scrap, but not something I can deal with myself,,
Lack of all the requirements,,facility,knowhow,tools etcetc,not a viable garage option,,needs a competent home mechanic..oh well,we shall see..... |
