A car with air suspension has buttons on the right side of the boot to lower or raise it.

I have my XC90 since yesterday, it has 235/5519 Contisportcontacts.
The dealers said they are not ContiSilent and I can't find any label on them, so they probably aren't silent :-)
They are made in week 43 of 2016, and I would think Continental was producing tyres
with the silent technology by then. So I wonder why mine aren't. A matter of size perhaps?

Yes, I believe Volvo are only putting the ContiSilent on 20" wheels (not sure about 21" and 22").

Unhappy New V90 Noise

I have just taken ownership of a V90 D4 Momentum Pro. On rough roads the noise is really bad. I ordered 18 inch wheels in the hope that they would be quieter than the 20 inch that I tested.

The car has come with Michelin Primacy 3 tyres in 245/45R18 100W.

I am surprised by the load and speed rating (the manual says 96). I did notice that the 20 inch comes with noise cancelling tyres.

Has anyone got a V90 that is not noisy? Mine is really really bad. The noise is a low frequency rumble and it seems to resonate through the whole car. You can even feel the passenger floor vibrating.

Has anyone got tyres that they think are quiet? In any size?

Help!!!!!!

There is a guy in the highlands with a D4 V90. Goes by the forum name Tem. Might be worth dropping him a personal message.

I have an s90 on 20 " pirellis. I agree that it is subframe or wheel housing noise.
I am investigating using soundproofing in wheel well or dynamat over wells in car to reduce noise. Has anyone done this and did it work?

I'm aware that some owners have had ContiSilent tyres fitted at no cost to themselves, via Volvo and/or dealer contributions - could I ask any of those people to contact me, either in this thread, or via PM?

This is proving to be a very disappointing experience.

As detailed in other posts in this thread (maybe try searching for posts from me within this thread), Volvo offered to contribute 75% of the cost based on the tread depth remaining on my current tyres (approx 7.5k miles, don't know what the tread depth was). My dealer volunteered to cover the rest within me even asking.

Be aware though that I was one of the early complainants to Volvo UK well before the ContiSilent tyres became available.

My tyres were replaced on my 20" wheels to Contisilents at no cost to me and I have been pleased with the warmer weather as it is at least acceptable now.

May be worth updating your signature with your car details.
