There's a surprise. Depends whether Colin or Clive did the ordering.

The gear stick slides over to the left like it should.

The only reason I realised it wasn't quite right is the gear stick blocks the view of the gear indicator. You have to lean over to see which gear is selected.
Which isn't really a problem as you know what gear you're in by the position of the stick, and the fact it's displayed on the speedo cluster.

As for the seat trim, I'll be popping into the Northampton Volvo at some point so will ask them how much it'll be. Otherwise I'll get the one off eBay. Although, is it likely to just break again?

My selector guide is on the right hand side of the stick. That looks like a left hand drive one. Still, does what it's supposed to so no need to worry. Could always check eBay.

You do indeed have a LHD gear selector surround, all RHD XC90 models should have the illuminated position indicator to the right, closest the driver.

Having said that, if you can live with it, leave it as it is. I remember that BMW never used to make 'handed' auto position indicators, a 525e that I had in the 1980's had them on the left but I soon got used to it, used to ask the wife to look what gear I was in....joking!!

My 55 looks exactly like yours, gear dial on the left and I notice you have the phone, again same as. I thought that's just how the car came, is it a common thing to have these replaced ie faulty or is it just how volvo put that model out.
