As the V70's made in 2000 could be the Phase 1 or Phase 2 cars you might want mention which type?
If you get a Phase 1 MY2000 take care when ordering parts for it as most places will incorrectly "assume" its a Phase 2, even though mine is a MT2000 Phase 1 I tend to say its a 1999 model when ordering parts to avoid this issue - Mike |

V70 2000 on
Ok thanks for the heads up on the model years would prefer the Phase 2 but if theres a 2000 Phase one in good nick might consider it
Still not a geartronic/semi automatic whatever you call it [if geartronic isn't semi automatic]

A few other issues with V70's of that era, the engine (assuming Petrol) will have the troublesome Electronic Throttle Motor, probably already been changed by a previous owner but they can (and do) fail again due to the crap design.
Autobox can also be problematic, plenty of threads on here about issues with shift solenoids etc Headlight reflectors tarnish with age leaving you with little forward visibility in the dark, solution is new headlights, fitting higher power bulbs/ HID's isn't that effective. Heater Matrix prone to fail/ weep, check under the front passenger side carpet for fluid. Don't take the above as a reason not to get a V70 but be aware of what might be wrong and read up on the points above in the forum so you know what to look for when viewing a potential car - Mike |

I had one of the first P2 V70's, and i really liked it. They can certainly be problematic though. If your budget will stretch to an '03 or '04 model, they were a big improvement on the earlier ones.

Geartronic and Auto Only License
[QUOTE=charlotte001;858532]I'm after an upgrade on my 97 850 T5 and now what a 2000 on V70 Auto T5 not geartronic [apparently my driving license doesnt permit me to drive any but true automatics odd really]
I'd always thought 3 pedals need manual license, two pedals can be driven on an auto only license? Am I wrong? |

V70
Normally if you take a test in a manual transmission car you can drive both manual/auto but if you take a test in an automatic you can only drive automatic, now that may normally include geartronics/semi automatic/easitronic whatever the brand mark calls the semi automatic gearbox; One grey area is if your license is restricted, due to disability like mine, you are only licensed to drive pure automatics. I found that out from DVLA

You may want to get your licence checked, if you pass in a manual you automatically get the rites to drive an auto / geartronic.
If your unsure ring dvla.

V70
I took the automatic test due to disability I've checked out what my license allows as, in the paper license days, it had a written restriction which is still current disallowing anything but pure automatics
As for the budget depends on the car
