Are you able to tell us what the codes are/were? This would really help us to be able to help you. There could be so many reasons on why but the codes would at least point in a helpful direction.

Does it rev freely (normal) when standing still and you press the accelerator? If so then my intial thought would be to look at all the boost and vacuum pipes as well as the intercooler and pipes.

It is unlikely to be the turbo itself.

Change the fuel filter - it's not difficult & not expensive.

Plenty people (me included) have had D5 issues due to the fuel filter.

Fuel filter changed and the engine management light is off, rev's a lot easier now and feels more responsive.

So much for a main dealer then.

Saying that, where did the codes come from as they are not Volvo OBD codes?

Generic codes then. It's worth trying to get the full Volvo codes read to check nothing is lurking in the background. Someone local with a VCT/DiCE/Vadis/Vida combo or a BSR PPC unit might be able to help if you ask on the forum. This thread might help: http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=136759

You could also simply check to see if any codes have been set but no enough to through a warning on the dash: http://forums.t5d5.org/topic/7162-ch...near-a-dealer/ . If nothing comes up then you're OK.
