One downside I noticed is that plugging in a CarPlay device disables other connected USB devices. For me this is a shame as I have an old iPod which I have all my car music on, and I always just leave connected in the car.

So, I can't for example have music playing from the iPod while connecting a CarPlay device for maps, messages etc..

Makes me wonder why they sell Apple CarPlay as coming with 2 USB ports! To quote from the spec:

Apple CarPlayTM with 2 x USB/1 x Aux. Input

Just a shame you can only use one at a time, having a second is kind of redundant!

One of the reasons I have carplay on order is the extra USB. Also assuming it will improve and include Android auto as well. Maybe I should take it off as £300 is a bit steep for what it is and is just another thing to understand.

A few folk on swedespeed have been underwhelmed by CarPlay and not being able to use both USB ports is a total bummer.

I abandoned Apple years ago so haven't specified it but will get Android Auto if/when it appears.
